Mr. Guidry assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer for VAALCO Energy, Inc. on Monday, October 21, 2013.
Mr. Guidry previously served as vice president of Business Development for Marathon Oil Corporation where he was responsible for acquisitions of strategic opportunities for value growth. Throughout his career Mr. Guidry has held numerous executive management positions including his most recent position as president of Marathon Oil Libya Limited. In this capacity Mr. Guidry was the Chairman of the Marathon Oil, ConocoPhillips and Hess partnership in the Waha concessions.
Prior to the Libya assignment, he was regional vice president for Marathon Oil’s North American Production Operations. Mr. Guidry oversaw all of the Company’s Exploration and Production activities onshore and offshore U.S. He also spent five years leading Marathon Oil’s Central Africa Business Unit, overseeing project expansions and operations in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Angola. Throughout his career, he has held challenging technical, staff and managerial positions in the company’s domestic and international production organizations.
Mr. Guidry graduated from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering. He is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, and served on the board of directors for the Corporate Council on Africa, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, the U.S. Oil and Gas Association and was a member of the Upstream Committee of the American Petroleum Institute.
Robert L. Gerry III – Chairman of the Board
Until August 1997, Mr. Gerry had been Vice-Chairman of Nuevo Energy Company (“Nuevo”) since February 1994. Prior to being appointed Vice-Chairman of Nuevo, Mr. Gerry had served as President and Chief Operating Office of Nuevo since its formation in March 1990. Mr. Gerry had been Senior Vice President of Energy Assets International Corporation (“EAIC”) since January 1989. For ten years prior to joining EAIC, Mr. Gerry was active as an independent investor concentrating on energy investments.
Mr. Gerry served on the Board of Directors of Nuevo Energy from 1990-2004 and was appointed as a member of Plains Exploration and Production Company Board of Directors where he served from 2004-2010. He currently serves as a Trustee of Texas Children’s Hospital.
W. Russell Scheirman – President and Chief Operating Officer
In October of 2008, Mr. Scheirman was appointed Chief Operating Officer following his overseeing of the planning, fabrication, and installation of the Avouma Field and Ebouri Field production platforms offshore Gabon. Mr. Scheirman continues to serve as President of VAALCO Energy, Inc., a position held since 1992. Mr. Scheirman served as Chief Financial Officer from 1991 to 2008. From 1991 to 1992, Mr. Scheirman served as Executive Vice President of the Company.
Prior to joining VAALCO Energy, Inc., Mr. Scheirman was an Associate at McKinsey & Company, Inc. from 1989 to 1991, an investment banker with Copeland, Wickersham and Wiley from 1984 to 1989, and a Petroleum Reservoir Engineer for Exxon Company, U.S.A. from 1978 to 1984.
Mr. Scheirman holds a B.S. (Summa Cum Laude) and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University (1977 and 1978, respectively) and an M.B.A. from California Lutheran University (1984).
Gregory R. Hullinger – Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Hullinger joined VAALCO Energy, Inc. in October 2008 after more than 30 years of finance, accounting and tax experience at Shell Oil Company and its parent company, Royal Dutch Shell.
Recent positions with Shell Oil included a role as Corporate Finance Manager leading the Company’s corporate restructuring initiative and as the Company’s Controller and Treasurer. Prior to that, Mr. Hullinger served as Chief Financial Officer of the Shell Deer Park Refining Company. Based in London, Mr. Hullinger served as the International Internal Audit Manager for Royal Dutch Shell and as the Manager-Group Accounting, the unit responsible for the financial consolidations, results and reporting for Royal Dutch Shell. In another international assignment, Mr. Hullinger was the Chief Financial Officer for Pecten Cameroon Company, a Shell Oil subsidiary located in Cameroon, West Africa.
Mr. Hullinger was twice elected Chairman of the Accounting Committee of the American Petroleum Institute. He holds a B.S. in accounting from Louisiana State University.
Gayla M. Cutrer – Executive Vice President, Corporate Secretary
Ms. Cutrer joined Alcorn International, Inc., predecessor to VAALCO Energy, Inc., in 1986 and served as executive support and administrative advisor for the newly founded international energy company. She was named to the board of directors on March 20, 1990 and served on the board during the Company’s transition from a privately held company to a publicly traded company. Ms. Cutrer was named Vice President and Corporate Secretary of VAALCO Energy, Inc. in 1990 and was named Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary of VAALCO Energy, Inc. in 2011. Ms. Cutrer’s previous experience in the energy industry includes positions with Cities Service International, Inc, Amoco International, Inc. and Kilroy Company of Texas.
